McClea & Green Dental continues a tradition of quality care.
After many years of dedicated service, John Heenan retired, and in 2019, Dr. Phillip McClea and Dr. Hannah Green took over the practice. Now, 4.5 years on, they are proud to have grown their practice and relocated to a new, modern premise in Burns House.
As a husband-and-wife team with over a decade of experience practicing across New Zealand, Phillip and Hannah have strong family and professional ties to Dunedin. Since settling here, their family has also grown—they now have three children and are deeply connected to the local community.
Our team
Hannah is born and bred Dunedin. In fact, her grandfather had his own dental practice in Dunedin for several years. She studied here at the University of Otago, firstly completing a Bachelor of Science, before discovering dentistry and graduating with Distinction in 2010. She has worked as a hospital dentist in Dunedin, and in private practices in Levin and Timaru.
Hannah has a strong passion for all aspects of general dentistry, with a particular focus on root canals and aesthetic dentistry. She is an active member of the New Zealand Dental Association and has furthered her education to become a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Having been voted “Least likely to leave Dunedin” at graduation, Hannah has proved them all right, and is excited about returning home after 10 years away. “I love meeting a wide variety of patients, and working out the best treatment for them. I’m so looking forward to discovering Dunedin again, and raising our children here.”
Phillip is originally from Tauranga, but his family were initially based in Dunedin, with his Mum and Dad also meeting at Dental School. He studied Dentistry at the University of Otago, graduating with distinction in 2010. Phillip started work as a dental house surgeon at Christchurch hospital before moving to private practice in Levin and Timaru.
Phillip enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with a special focus on full-mouth rehabilitation, including implants, crowns, and bridges. He is passionate about finding long-term, practical solutions to help patients achieve healthy, lasting smiles.
In 2018, Phillip completed further study to become a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association.
When not at work, Phillip enjoys everything outdoors, with a particular love for fly fishing and mountain biking.

Friendly, passionate, and highly skilled across all areas, Tracey is dedicated to providing exceptional care and ensuring a welcoming environment for our patients. With a strong commitment to patient well-being, Tracey continues to be a vital part of our team, helping to build and maintain the high standards of care we value.
